Marie-Luca Van Assche, 32 years old, has been fascinated by the art world from an early age; she spent her Wednesday afternoons in the studio of her grandfather, Jef Wauters, who was a painter, and acquired a taste for interior decoration through her mother.
At the age of 18 she left for Brussels to study photography at E.N.S.A.V. La Cambre. After her studies, she went to Corsica for 3 months to work for a ceramist, and to Laos for 3 months to volunteer to give English and art lessons to monks and orphans. Then she took her backpack to travel alone in Vietnam, Cambodia and India.
Returning from this educational experience, she left for Paris and started her professional career in an art gallery in Saint-Germain in the 6th arrondissement of Paris. This gallery also had branches in Courchevel and Knokke where she organized many exhibitions.
After this, she had the great opportunity to work in the same neighborhood in Paris at Librairie Camille Sourget, an antiquarian bookshop specialized in rare first editions from the 15th to the 19th century. Thanks to this experience, she has also attended many international fairs such as TEFAF & Biennale des Antiquaires.

After this wonderful period, she decided to come back to Ghent to be closer to her family and to convert her experiences into her own art gallery.
She wants to make of MLVA Art Gallery a place for emerging contemporary artists from across the globe.
