Ming Tong has a degree in environmental sculpture from the Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts in China. Since 1994 he is living and working in Lille, France, as an independent artist, specialising in painting, calligraphy and sculpture. He teaches art and sculpture at the Ecole Supérieure d'Art in Tourcoing and Arras since 1996. On regular base he conceptualises urban art creations in China.

Today, Tong Ming is mainly concerned with ceramics because of his affinity with the natural material, especially clay. As a sculptor he likes volume, where roundness goes hand in hand with softness. He searches his inspiration in the basic techniques he developed through study and experience. His creations are the result of inspiration from both Western and Chinese culture, characterized by humor, beauty and serenity. He did various solo and group exhibitions in France, Belgium, the Netherlands and China.
